Lampreys on the loose in Lake Superior

Currently, the Wildlife Service is estimating the abundance of larval lampreys on the mouth of the Dead River Basin in Lake Superior. This is an area of concern because of the flooding in 2003, which caused lampreys to be flushed from the river into Lake Superior.

Minnesota Lake Superior Beach Monitoring Program
Minnesota Pollution Control Agency
Minnesota's beach monitoring program collects samples from 37 Lake Superior beaches and analyzes them for water-borne diseases and human health risks. During beach season, this site offers daily and historical beach status information, including weather, photos and maps.

Minnesota Sea Grant
Provides the people, tools and technology to help maintain and enhance coastal and aquatic economies and resources, focusing primarily on problems facing Lake Superior and Minnesota's inland waters.
