General Resources Cooperative Institute for Limnology and Ecosystems Research (CILER) CILER is a partnership between NOAA and the University of Michigan. The Institute was conceived to have a regional Great Lakes focus, and its research themes cover a diverse area of disciplines focused around the overall goal of improving our understanding and management of the Great Lakes through ecosystem-based research. Council of Great Lakes Research Managers International Joint Commission The general objective of the Council is to enhance the ability of the IJC to provide effective leadership, guidance, support and evaluation of Great Lakes research programs with particular reference to programs required or funded pursuant to the provisions of the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement of 1978. Great Lakes Institute for Environmental Research (GLIER) University of Windsor GLIER research is currently focused on two interrelated themes; environmental chemistry and toxicology, and conservation and resource management, that assess the impact of multiple stressors on large lakes and their watersheds. Great Lakes Research Consortium The Great Lakes Research Consortium consists of 16 colleges and universities in New York State and nine affiliated schools in Ontario. GLRC programs help to promote collaborative research on the Great Lakes. Great Lakes Science Center U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) The U.S. Geological Survey's Great Lakes Science Center was founded in 1927 and continues to provide scientific information for the sound management of Great Lakes fish populations and other important natural resources in the basin. Great Lakes-St. Lawrence Research Inventory International Joint Commission An Internet-based, searchable database created as a tool to collect and disseminate information on research programs relevant to the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. International Association for Great Lakes Research IAGLR is a scientific organization made up of researchers studying the Laurentian Great Lakes and other large lakes of the world, as well as those with an interest in such research. Outdoor Discovery Center The ODC's mission is to provide the people of West Michigan outdoor learning opportunities to illustrate the benefits of nature to human kind and to encourage stewardship and conservation of the natural world.
