October 1-2, 2009 2009 Annual Meeting for the U.S. Great Lakes Areas of Concern Program Milwaukee, Wisconsin The annual meeting for the U.S. Areas of Concern (AOC) program will convene participants from the 30 U.S. AOCs to review recent developments affecting the program; discuss approaches for implementing delisting targets; build capacity to implement on-the-ground restoration actions; identify opportunities to address AOC restoration priorities under President Obama’s Great Lakes Restoration Initiative; improve linkages between the AOCs, Lakewide Management Plans (LaMPs) and other programs; and consider actions that will strengthen the regional U.S. AOC program.

October 6-7, 2009 IJC Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement (GLWQA) Biennial Meeting Windsor, Ontario The IJC holds a Biennial Meeting every two years to hear from scientists and the public about issues relating to the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement, and to assist the Commission with preparing its Biennial Report on the Great Lakes Water Quality Agreement. These reports assess the governments’ progress in meeting the goals of the Agreement to restore the physical, biological and chemical integrity of the Great Lakes waters.
