Indiana's port authority has launched a few major construction projects at the Port of Indiana-Burns Harbor.

Metallic sheen reported on Lake Michigan again
The Northwest Indiana Times (7/17)
A metallic sheen was reported Wednesday afternoon on Lake Michigan in the area of Porter Beach. Early indications are that the sheen is similar to one reported June 17 in the same area. The source of the material is pending further investigation.

A six-year old boy is recovering after being trapped under nearly 11-feet of sand at Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore.

Valpo to look at buying Lake Michigan water
The Northwest Indiana Times (3/13)
The city of Valparaiso, Indiana's Utilities Board should be ready by July to make a recommendation whether the water supply should continue to come from the ground or from Lake Michigan via another supplier.

Lakeshore gets shuttle funding
South Bend Tribune (2/20)
The Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore is set to receive $193,400 from the Federal Transit Administration for a shuttle service to connect visitors traveling by commuter rail to the park along Lake Michigan's southern shore.
