Electing a new Steering Committee Chair

Steering Committee,

As we have already discussed briefly, Orlando’s departure from the WDNR on July 6th will require us to elect a new chair-person for the Committee (and/or a new vice chair, depending on who gets nominated/elected). This will be the first time the group has done an election since . . . well, it’s been a long time.  I think the most effective process for this the typical one of nominations and voting.  I suggest we make this position a 1 or 2-year term and rotate it more among the various states than has been done in the past. Perhaps we could start a process of moving the vice-chair into the chair for a set period and then electing a new vice chair. We can discuss this on the upcoming call this coming Wednesday, but please consider in the meantime if you have a willingness or desire to be the chair of the committee (or vice chair).  Also consider whether you have any additional ideas or input on the handling of this process.

Also, it is a good time to begin thinking about establishing a plan of work for “phase 14” (Oct 07 – Sept 08). We will discuss this briefly also on Wednesday. Please give a little thought to any tasks you think might be suitable for inclusion.

Talk to you next week,

Jon
