Allan, Lori and myself will make a day trip to the meeting the first
day, and Allan and I will return for the second day. Jim will possibly
attend both days, overnight as he lives 2(+) hours away, but has yet to
receive approval or make accommodations.

Hi all,
I'd like to check with everyone regarding your attendance at the
meeting and
status in booking a hotel room. While some people have called and had
no
trouble getting a room from the block I set up with the Holiday Inn,
others
have had significant trouble and have booked elsewhere. I'd like to get
a
list of who is coming and to ensure those who need rooms are able to
get
them. Please let me know if the information below is correct:
IL: Buzz attending; hotel?
IN: Jon attending; hotel?
MI: Dennis attending (any others?); hotel?
MN: Chun Yi and Nate attending; hotel?
NY: Carlos attending; hotel?
OH: Tom attending; hotel?
ON: Cong attending; Comfort Inn
PA: Karen attending; Fairfield Inn
WI: ??
Other: Mark attending; Holiday Inn
Also, note the information in the press release about a new shuttle
service
charging only $10 to get from DTW to the Four Points Sheraton in Ann
Arbor,
which is very near the other hotels and meetings. The link is
www.MichiganFlyer.com. Their online schedule doesn't appear to have
been
updated with Ann Arbor, although the rates page has. For reference,
Ann
Arbor is less than half the distance from the Airport to Jackson, so I
would
assume the pickups in Ann Arbor are roughly 45 minutes before the
times
shown for the Arrival at the first airport terminal. I would certainly
call
the number given to confirm the times. In addition, there are many
taxi
services that will take you to Ann Arbor from the airport. I think the
typical 1-way rate is $30-$40. I think most have an airport flat rate
rather
than metered. Let me know if any other logistical information is
needed.

PRESS RELEASE
For immediate release
September 14, 2007
AATA collaborates on new Metro Airport service
ANN ARBOR, MI - Low-cost connections to Detroit Metropolitan Airport,
Jackson and East Lansing will soon be available to local residents and
visitors through the collaboration of the Ann Arbor Transportation
Authority
(AATA) and key local leaders with Michigan Flyer.
Michigan Flyer has announced that it will add an Ann Arbor stop to its
Direct to Detroit Metro bus service beginning October 1, 2007. The bus
will
board passengers at the Four Points Sheraton, located at 3200
Boardwalk,
with 11 daily round trips to and from Metro Airport and seven round
trips to
Jackson and East Lansing.
According to AATA Board Chair David Nacht, AATA has played a key role
in
making this service a reality.
"Michigan Flyer approached us to help them evaluate and determine
possible
boarding and overnight parking sites, and to connect with other
important
contacts in the community," Nacht said.
"We are really excited about this opportunity for residents of our
community
and visitors to have a low-cost option to get to Detroit Metro Airport
and
the ability to travel from Ann Arbor to Jackson and Lansing."
AATA has worked with Michigan Flyer in setting up an interim
connection
between AATA's Route 36 - Wolverine Tower Shuttle and the Michigan
Flyer
service, and will continue to work toward establishing connections
with
additional AATA routes.
The direct to Detroit Metro service will be non-stop to and from the
airport
and will serve both the McNamara and Smith terminals.
The introductory rate from Ann Arbor to the airport will be $10 per
person,
and $15 per person to or from East Lansing, with a "Buy Two, Get One
Free"
promotion in effect through December.
Details on the service are available at www.MichiganFlyer.com or by
calling
888.MI.FLYER.
