Hi Tom, This message got blocked from going through to the listserv due
to the attachments. I’m forwarding the text of your message to everyone
here and I’ve posted the attachments at the bottom of the following page
on the wiki: http://www.glos.us/wiki/display/RAPIDS/Emission+Factors
From: Tom Velalis
[mailto:tom.velalis@epa.state.oh.us] To All In last week's
meeting, I was asked to give a brief presentation about WebFire
issues. The group discussed the possibility to review the
Webfire emission factor and particularly those potentially bad
emission factors. This is a huge topic and one can make a career out
of this. EPA has enough people working on updating the WebFire
database but they have a different view of this database. EPA is not
particularly concerned with entering emission factors that compare well
against other existing records. Also, EPA is not concerned with entering
records that comply to some standard for measure, material and action
codes. On the hand, the States have different needs and that is what I
have tried to do with the WebFire Processing Application. This is a
very important issue for us and co-operation is needed to succeed. I
have exchanged emails with EPA trying to raise their awareness on the issues
but EPA has a different take on the issues. EPA does not see the same
problems that I do. The email exchanges can be forwarded
to interested parties Since, I find it
difficult to discuss software and data issues in a conference call, I
produced the two attached documents. 1. The
Word file briefly explains the steps taken in processing the WebFire
records. The WebFire inconsistencies are listed. 2. The Excel file
provides four data worksheets. The questionable records are highlighted
in yellow. Please review and
let me know of anything else that may be of interest to the group. Tom |
