RE: Email settings

Hello all:

The issue noted below about email/FTP accounts has now been resolved. The old accounts have been deleted and replaced with a single account for our group to use when there is a need to use the GLC’s FTP server.  The Wiki site can accept very large files and is generally easier to access, so that should be the default approach for sharing files with the group that do not require the additional security measures that the FTP site provides (file access on the wiki can be restricted if needed).

The new FTP account is:

Name: rapids

Password: rapids

As was noted a while ago, the FTP site now only accepts SSH FTP protocol (SFTP) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SSH_file_transfer_protocol). Your FTP client must therefore support this protocol in order to connect. Some other relevant information that will help you set up a connection:

Host: glin.net

Root: /ftp/glc/RAPIDS/

Let us know if you encounter any difficulties.

Jon

Hi group,

Two things to note from the email below:

1)      If you sent any email to me or the airtoxics list between 12/21 and 12/30, there is a decent chance that they got stuck somewhere, haven’t been delivered and may never be. Apparently there were some major errors with the email client run by our web hosting service. Everything should be fine now, but if you’ve sent anything since the 21st, please resend.

2)      Below is a list of the ftp/email accounts we have set up for this project. Keeping all of these active and updated is an unnecessary burden on the IT staff, as the only real goal is to provide people with access to the FTP server (which we’re using less now thanks to the Wiki), and that can be accomplished with a single shared login for the whole group. Before making that change, I wanted to make sure that there isn’t anyone who is using any of the accounts for email. If you use and email account managed by the GLC, please let me know as soon as possible.

Happy New Year,

Jon

Good Morning Jon and Happy New Year!

Merit continues to work on restoring email from 12/21 - 12/30.  They admit that some mail may have been permanently lost from this period.

On a different note, I am doing some new year email account house cleaning.

There are number of accounts that currently exist and Stuart informed me that most were related to the Air project.

Can you tell me which accounts (if any) from the list below can be deleted?

Great, That did the trick. Do I interpret you correctly that there may have been some email between the 21st and 26th (or 30th) that will be missing and may not be recoverable?
