Subject: States and Localities Use of the EIS Gateway (follow-up from today's call)

To the Emissions & Modeling Committee:

OAQPS sent the following after our call today:

I am clarifying that the GHG mandatory reporting rule is not yet out as proposed rule, but rather the proposal is at OMB for review.

Also, here are some of the current and upcoming significant EIS development tasks and time frames that involve the state/ local staff's use of the Gateway to review and submit data:

March - April 2009

1. Populate EIS with historic emissions inventory data.

2. Release of format and software tool to assist States in converting their data into the new CERS XML schema.

July 2009

3. Allow states to submit NEI data into EIS via the Central Data Exchange (CDX).

4. Development of nonpoint and mobile source emissions data, loaded and available through EIS.

There will also be a training course on EIS during the Emissions Inventory Conference, in two parts, on April 16 and 17.

Attendance priority is given to the staff of state, local, and tribal agencies.
