After much discussion, we have selected Oct. 30, 2002 as the annual meeting
date for the Great Lakes Recreational Water Quality Association.  The Lake
Superior Room at Region 5 is reserved for the meeting.  We are trying to
sequence the meeting with the Lake Michigan Monitoring Coordinating Council
who may meet the day before or after our meeting.  If other groups want to
coordinate meetings with us, let me or Holiday Wirick know.  We are still
trying to arrange the logistics and agenda but we have an idea of the main
elements of the meeting.  The morning will likely be taken up with policy,
programatic and management considerations.  We hope to have someone from at
the national level address current Beach Act information.  The Great Lakes
state coordinators will sit as a panel to answer questions and encourage
networking after presenting their respective  programs.    Several
cities/counties will be asked to participate in the policy/management part
of the meeting.  There will be a very short business meeting mid-day
followed by technical/scientific presentations or posters.   We will issur
a call for abstracts soon.  Host sponsors and session leaders are being
arranged.  There is no registration fee, although we may need money to buy
group lunches. Any suggestions for the meeting would be greatly
appreciated.  At some point I will need an RSVP from offered papers and
participants to make sure we have adequate facilities.
