beach morphology lesson

I found these two web pages that describes the zones of a beach.  Unfortunately, most geomorphology books take their terminology from marine situations.  It becomes especially confusing when describing the areas delineated by high and low tides (e.g. foreshore and backshore).  From the attached discussion, it appears that the foreshore is a restricted to a very narrow band that lies between the swash zone and just landward of the berm.  Does anyone have a better working definition for the foreshore in non-tidal waters?

Do you think we are working at the foreshore?
