New President for Great Lakes Beach Association

It is with great pleasure that I announce the election of Shannon Briggs as
the new president of Great Lakes Beach Association. Her term of office
effectively begins immediately. I know that you join with me in
congratulating her and will support initiatives that will make GLBA a more
productive and effective organization. The Board fully supports Shannon's
selection and is excited about the upcoming year. It is a critical time
for us because of the important potential role we could conceivably play
between communication and facilitation among federal, state, county and
local officials and managers. The extent and the direction of GLBA
involvement is largely up to the Association. Shannon brings the kind of
leadership and perspective to GLBA necessary to steer the organization for
the upcoming year.

I have enjoyed my past two years as president and thank everyone for their
support. It was very rewarding to share with you the chartering of the
organization and the excitement of sharing common goals, interests and
activities. I have made some very special friends over my term, I hope
those relationships will continue and serve the organization well. I
especially thank the Board for the hard work and cooperation. They have
really carried the organizational ball for us! Finally, the Association
has had some VERY special friends that have helped it get off the ground.
US EPA, Great Lakes Commission, Annis Water Resource Institute (Janet
Vail), Johnson Wax Corp., Chicago Park District and the City of Gary
immediately come to mind. Again, I thank everyone for making my terms
enjoyable. I remain committed to GLBA and look forward to its continued
growth.
