Waterborne Outbreaks
Thirty-one outbreaks were waterborne: 21 from recreational water and 10
from drinking water. Recreational water-associated outbreaks were first
reported in 1991; 14 (67%) occurred in lakes or ponds, and 7 (33%) in
swimming pools. Outbreak size ranged from 2 to 45 cases (median 8 cases).
Outbreaks occurred from June to September.
