There has been a late session addition to the Central Canadian Symposium
on Water Quality (Feb. 13-14, 2006 – other details attached). The title
and description are:
Recreational water quality along beaches of the Great Lakes and
other inland waters
This session is planned to attract researchers involved with
aspects of recreational water quality in inland waters with a
particular focus on the Great Lakes. Examples of current issues
include (but are not limited to): assessing land use impacts on
nearshore nutrient levels and general water quality, algae ecology
and growth dynamics in nearshore areas, development of
technologies designed to aid in microbial pollution source
determination, environmental dynamics/microbial ecology of
indicator bacteria in nearshore and tributary environments, and
predictive modeling of microbial beach water quality.
This symposium is held every year at the Canada Centre for Inland Waters
in Burlington, Ontario (about 45 min west of Toronto). We
enthusiastically encourage submissions from researchers in Canada, the
U.S. and beyond. There have been a few Canadian researchers that have
managed to attend some beach research-based sessions in the U.S., so it
would be nice to have some of you States-side return the favour (or
“favor” as the case may be)! We have been given a reprieve on the Dec.
16th abstract submission deadline, but sooner is better of course. If
you do submit, please clearly indicate the session title above and cc

Symposium on Water Quality. Please view our call for papers to learn
about this year’s session themes. Abstracts will be accepted until the
16th of December, 2005. Please utilize the Abstract Information Form and
follow the Abstract Format Guide. Participants registering for the
symposium before February 1st 2006, will do so at a reduced rate.
