Dear Richard, Sheridan, or whomever
is currently in the Big Chair!
I am chairman of the WMAO fall conference
this year. WMAO is an Ohio organization composed of Federal, State
and Local government regulators, consultants, academics, and utilities
for the purpose of integrating efforts to understand and manage the quantity
and quality of water. Our theme is Follow the Flow, and the intent
is to solicit presentations that describe integrated water management --
watershed-based monitoring and remediation, following stormwater to its
effects on surface water quality, tracking contamination to sources (human
or other animal in the case of septage; industrial, residential, natural
in the case of chemical) among other general topics.
The membership of BeachNet may be interested
in this opportunity to interact with WMAO and its constituency, and to
affect the way Ohio's water managers view water resources. I would
appreciate it if you could distribute this announcement to the BeachNet
community.
More information is available at www.wmao.org
Thank you so much for your assistance.

Call for Papers
Abstracts are being sought for presentations
addressing interactions among
water resources and integrated water-resources management.
You may request placement as a 20-minute Oral Presentation or as a Poster
Presentation. The Conference Planning Committee will review all abstracts
and will inform authors of those that are accepted in September, 2006.
Text of accepted abstracts will be compiled on the WMAO web site.
Membership in WMAO is not a requirement for
submittal of an abstract or presentation of your paper although we encourage
everyone to consider joining WMAO to support the water resources profession
in Ohio. All conference presenters are required to pay the conference
registration fee. A discounted registration rate will apply to students.
There will be a poster session and the people’s
choice student poster presenter will win a cash prize.
SESSION TOPICS: Presentations should
address the following issues (a detailed list of potential session topic
is posted under Fall Conference information at www.wmao.org):
· Hydrology
and Watershed Management
· Monitoring
and Assessment of Water Resources
· Policy
and Administration Issues Related to Water Management
ABSTRACT SUBMISSION: Abstracts should
be limited to 300 words or fewer. Abstracts should communicate clearly
and concisely the purpose, approach, major findings, and implications of
your investigation or study. Abstracts will be reviewed and ranked
for acceptance and placement in the program by members of the Conference
Planning Committee. Papers will be selected for presentation based
on their merit and relevance to the conference and session topics.
Submissions that are thought-provoking, address controversial water resource
issues, and/or describe new areas of application or study are especially
welcomed. Authors’ suggestions for topic placement will be considered,
but the Conference Planning Committee will make the final decision.
Abstracts received after the JULY 21, 2006 deadline may not be accepted.
