I wanted to let every one know that the BEACH NETWORK website,  http://beachnet.info/
is up and running.  It still needs to be more fully populated with links, information (reports, articles, documents), calendar of events, science and some editing.  Please contribute to that by writing safebeaches@gmail.com.  The DISCUSSION section archives beachnet listserve communication so that you can see pass exchanges chronologically or by searching for key terms.   I want to make special mention of the forum.  Its success truly depends on your participation.  Beachnet listserve has over 450 members and non-registrants can not participate.  The forum, on the other hand, is open to everyone and is meant to be interactive reaching across shores to all 'beach people'.  I hope that you will use it and tell your colleagues about the site, encouraging them to join beachnet as well.  Any comments of the improvement of the site should be sent to SAFEBEACHES@GMAIL.COM.

I want to also take the opportunity to thank some key people that helped develop the site.

Crisley Handly, Lake Michigan Ecological Research Station, USGS wrote the first draft of the site design and provided much of the text.
Sandra Morrison and Rich Quintal from the Great Lakes Science Center provided guidance, critical review and support from inception.
Christina Manninen from Great Lakes Information Network provided much in-kind time and facilitating the initiative.
Devra Polack from Great Lakes Information Network did the final design of the website and put it all together.

I'm personally very proud of their product and think you will be also.

See many of you in Niagara
