Agenda for the 2007 Great Lakes Beach Conference



The Great Lakes Beach Conference Agenda is attached and a brief list of
session topics is included below.

Sessions begin Wednesday afternoon, October 3 and continue through
Friday morning, October 5.
The poster session will be held on Wednesday evening, October 3.

An introduction to beach monitoring (Beach Monitoring 101)
Continued discussion of Great Lakes Beach Health Research Needs
Approaches to Monitoring and Beach Criteria Development
Septic Issues - Groundwater Connections
Health Risks:  avian botulism, avian influenza, algal mats, human
pathogens
Progress of rapid and relevant indicators of health risk
Predictive Models--Including the premier showing of the DVD for "Beach
Models:  Predicting Water Quality" and
An overview of the new book "Statistical framework for recreational
water quality criteria and monitoring"
QPCR for enterococci, EPA perspective, local health department lab
perspective, and comparing it to traditional methods

Please note that this is a joint conference with the State of the Lake
