Resend: GeoHealth I: A GSA and USGS Workshop

USGS is cosponsoring a workshop being offered by the Geological Society of America titled: GeoHealth I: Building Bridges across the Geological and Human Health Sciences. It is intended to improve connections between the geological and health sciences. The workshop will be held on March 4-6, 2008 at the USGS Headquarters, Reston, Virginia. Scientists with experience bridging the gaps between the earth and health sciences have been invited to share their experiences and lessons learned in a series of lectures and case studies. Geoscientists and health scientists will interact to share their perspectives on airborne, soilborne and drinking water contaminants. Contaminants of interest include: environmental asbestos, urban lead, arsenic, and VOCs. Strategic planning through discussions in breakout sessions will help identify research priorities and opportunities on emerging and future needs in the geohealth arena. Scientists interested in learning more about demonstrating the relevance of earth science research to public health should consider registering before the early registration deadline, January 7th.

Information on the conference is available on the USGS Human Health Internet site under New:
