Hi all,

If the link doesn't work, check that the http address has he word
signage correctly spelt.

My version seemed to drop the letter "e" at the end !?

Hi William,

Here in Scotland, we commissioned a public survey a few years ago (2004)
whist trialing our predict and protect electronic beach message signs.

We have not followed this up again since. However as we intend to extend
the predictive signs from 10 to 20 sites over the next few years, it
might be an idea to recheck bather perceptions. I will be interested to
see what sort of response you get.

Here are links which may be of interest:

e

The report is at the bottom of the page and called
"2004 Project - Market Research - November 2004"

The key findings were:

 - 59% had noticed the signs
 - 89% thought the message signs (WQ prediction) were very or quite easy
to understand
 - only 21% thought it would affect their behaviour.

Hope this is of interest.

Has any information (peer-reviewed literature, government reports,
articles,
etc.) been published on the public acceptability of predictive models
for
water quality at beaches?

Thanks
Will Robertson
