This is the second SAVE THE DATE notice
for the annual 2008 Great Lakes Beach Association meeting at Indiana
Dunes National Lakeshore, Porter, IN. The meeting will take place
from September 15-17, 2008 at the Indiana Dunes Environmental Learning
Center and Indiana Dunes State Park. General topics to be covered
are listed above. Latest innovations, criteria, methods, health studies,
approaches to improved water quality management and current issues will
be presented by experts. We anticipate a special poster session,
the call for posters will follow very soon. In addition, we are hoping
to hold a few special symposia on current topics of intense interest to
the beach community and are developing a course curriculum for beach managers
(Beach 101...Beach 401). If you have idea for special workshops (e.g.
sand contamination, Cladophora, bird botulism, non-point sources identification)
that you would like to organize, please contact Richard Whitman at rwhitman@usgs.gov

There are two type of accommodations
for guests: dorm space and boarding at the Learning Center (http://duneslearningcenter.org)
which may be in part underwritten by USGS and local hotel accommodations
(e.g.
. We will be reserving a block
of rooms at the Indiana Oak Ind for those that choose hotel accommodations.
Dorm spaces and food are very reasonable but limited, get
your RSVP in immediately! The first 50 people to ask for dorm spaces
will receive special discounts. Remember, hotel and food are 'on
your own' are more comfortable accommodations but generally off site
of the meetings venue.
