On Friday, May 30, at 1:00 p.m. central, you can view a webcast of a
beach program press event that will be held in Racine, Wisconsin, at:
http://epa.gov/greatlakes/. EPA Assistant Administrator for the Office
of Water, Ben Grumbles, will announce the availability of the Great
Lakes Beach Sanitary Survey tool, developed as a result of the Great
Lakes Regional Collaboration's efforts to identify sources of
contamination at Great Lakes beaches. Also, Region 5's Deputy
Administrator, Walter Kovalick, will present a BEACH Act grant check to
Todd Ambs, Water Administrator with the Wisconsin Department of Natural
Resources, for its 2008 Beach Monitoring and Notification Program. Also
on the agenda are David Ullrich, Executive Director of the Great Lakes
and St. Lawrence Cities Initiative, and David Maack, President of the
Racine City Council.
On Friday you will also be able to access the Great Lakes Beach Sanitary
Survey fact sheet, survey forms, user manual, the 2007 Beach Sanitary
Survey Great Lakes Pilot Project report, and the pilot project map, at:
