Call for Abstracts
Great Lakes Beach Association - 8th
Annual Meeting
Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore
Porter, Indiana
The Great Lakes Beach Association (GLBA)
will hold its 8th annual conference on recreational water quality on September
15 – 17, 2008, at the Indiana Dunes National Lakeshore in Porter, Indiana.
The purpose of the conference is to enable beach managers, public health
officials, scientists, policy makers, students, and interested citizens
to share information about the latest beach research and management measures
for implementation of a successful recreational beach program.
Call for Abstracts
The GLBA seeks proposals for oral presentations,
workshops, and posters on a broad array of beach-related topics including,
but not limited to: predictive models, source tracking, sanitary surveys,
rapid/evolving methods for assessing recreational water quality, risk assessment,
remediation measures, Cladophora, avian botulism, and Canadian and U.S.
recreational water quality criteria.
Submission details
You are invited to submit an individual
abstract. The abstract should be no more than 250 words and should include
the following information: Presentation title, author(s), topic area,
name of presenter, affiliation, mailing address, phone and email address.
Kindly indicate whether the abstract is for an oral or poster presentation
and whether either oral or poster would be acceptable. Also, please
indicate willingness to participate in a panel discussion if so designated.
Workshops will be held the morning of September 17 to afford an opportunity
for smaller discussion groups. Abstracts should indicate the topic
and purpose of the workshop and anticipated attendance. Workshops
will be selected based on available space. The deadline for abstract submission
is July 18, 2008. Authors will be notified of acceptance by August
8, 2008.
