Shannon,

Just a quick note to thank you for inviting me to the Beaches 2008 conference in Indiana! It was well organized, smart, energetic, radiated enthusiam for the subjects at hand, informed, had continuity from beginning to end and yet it was casual. A nice balance. All environmental science should have a campfire like the one at this meeting, although the white fish that got itself smoked might not agree.

A particular hearty "Hats Off!" to Crisley Handley who never once lost track of me for the next ride from or to the train station in spite of having a zillion other things to ride herd on.

What a hoot! To go a few days and: 1) not use a key; 2) not use money; 3) not a read newspaper, not watch a television, and not listen to radio; 4) not a drive a car; 4) ride the train; and 5) drop off the face of the earth while meeting people who are relentlessly chipping away at the problem of beach monitoring.

Connecticut tips its hat to you all. Well done, my friend.
