Hi
everyone! I’m writing to announce the availability of our final report for the
Los Angeles River Bacteria Source Identification Study. The study was developed
by the CREST stakeholder group and funded by the City of Los Angeles. Laboratory
analyses were performed by Stefan Wuertz’s lab at UC-Davis. As you can imagine,
identifying bacteria sources to one of the most engineered watersheds in the world
was quite a challenge. http://www.crestmdl.org/studies/bsi_final_docs.html The
BSI Study compiled one of the largest MST datasets known to exist for urban
runoff. Over 600 samples were collected and analyzed for: ·
Traditional
indicators (E.coli and Enterococcus) ·
Bacteroidales (real-time PCR for universal and human) ·
Adenovirus
and enterovirus (real-time PCR) ·
Flow
and other general chemistry parameters Hopefully, some of our “lessons learned” will
be useful during your efforts to comply with REC standards. Feel free to
contact me with any questions. Talk to you soon, Dustin ______________________ Dustin Bambic, PH Watershed Hydrologist
