E-M:/ Friday Smog Warning
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
Enviro-Mich message from asagady@sojourn.com
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
MDEQ Air Quality Division has declared an "Ozone Action
Day" for Friday, June 27 for both West and Southeastern
Michigan. On these days, high ambient
temperatures, wind speeds and directions combined with
prevailing emissions are likely to cause elevated ambient
smog (ozone and photochemical oxidants).
You can get more details at
http://www.deq.state.mi.us/aqd/eval/amu/o3action.html
During such episodes, hourly ozone data is displayed
and you can track the smog episode as it occurs.
This highly graphic page, by the way, appears to be the best of its
kind of any public smog notification/information system
via online computer link in the U.S., thanks to the work
of Tom Monosmith and Mary Ann Heindorf (and their
cooperating colleagues) in the Air Monitoring Unit of the
Air Quality Division, MDEQ.
