E-M:/ Volunteer Watershed Monitoring Directory

Enviro-Mich message from Mike Boyce <birder@voyager.net>

A notice that appeared in the Volunteer Monitor Newsletter may be of
interest to Enviro-Mich subscribers:

Attention Volunteer Monitors!

A survey is now under way to collect information for a new edition of
the National Directory of Volunteer Environmental Monitoring Programs.
(The last edition, published by EPA in 1994, is now out of date.) Any
organization that is doing volunteer monitoring of a watershed should be
sure to be included in this nationwide networking tool.

The Directory will not be limited to just water quality monitoring. It
will list all groups that conduct any type of watershed monitoring--land
use surveys, habitat assessments, aquatic bird counts, riparian
vegetation surveys, etc.

All groups listed in the Directory will automatically receive a copy.
Others will be able to order the Directory, at no charge, from the
Environmental Protection Agency. The Directory will also be posted on
the Internet and linked to EPA's "Surf Your Watershed" Web site.

To obtain a survey form, please send an email message to:

A survey questionnaire will be mailed to you promptly.
