Enviro-Mich message from juliemec@voyager.net (Julie Stoneman)

Environmentalists--please note:

"Land Use Policy and Takings" will be the topic of
an MSU statewide satellite conference for the public
on Thursday evening, February 12, from 7:30 - 9:00 pm.
Downlink sites are scattered throughout the state--contact
your County Cooperative Extension Service to find out
the location nearest you.

The MSU satellite feed will feature David Favre, Professor,
Detroit College of Law at MSU who
will present a primer on takings, followed by
taped interviews with key speakers from MSU's
Land Use Forum in January. A response panel
with agricultural, realtors, municipality and
environmental interests will be on hand to give
their views of takings. (Note that the panel
includes interest groups with a far right takings

A break in the program will allow local community
discussion on the issues of property rights and
takings and feedback will be collected to
incorporate into printed proceedings of the
Land Use Forum.

It's important that the environmental community
participate in the downlink site discussions to
assure balanced discussions between private
property interests and public good.
A list of participating sites will be posted to
enviro-mich within the next few days, but for
now, contact your local Cooperative
Extension Office to find out if there's a
site near you.
