E-M:/ pollution prevention, anti-power plant cleanup, oil and gas fee bills up next week

The tentative agenda for the House Conservation, Environment and Recreation
Committee for Wednesday, Feb. 25, includes the following key issues:

*       Pollution prevention (P2) legislation:  H.B. 4987, 4988, 5455, 5457
(Rep. Freeman, sponsor).  A good environmental package, with the first two
bills setting a state P2 policy and definition, the second expanding an
existing tax break for pollution control equipment to cover P2

*       Oil and gas fee legislation:  H.B. 5399 (Rep. Kilpatrick).

*       Two resolutions opposing EPA's state implementation call for plans
to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions from power plants:  HR 214, HCR 87 (Rep.

bills will be offered and should be obtained from Rep. Freeman's office.
For information on the air issues, please contact Sally Billups of our
staff.  A substitute for the oil and gas legislation will be offered and
should be obtained from his office about Tuesday of next week.
