WETLAND MANAGEMENT IN THE 21st CENTURY, is the topic of a conference on
Thursday, March 12, at Michigan State University's Kellogg Center.  Topics

- "Development of a System for the Functional Assessment of Great Lakes
Wetlands," Tom Burton, Chair of Zoology Department, MSU.

-  "Wetland Provisions of the Farm Bill,"  Lynn Sampson, State Biologist,
Natural Resources Conservation Service.

-  "The Tollgate Drain Project,"  Pat Lindemann, Ingham County Drain

-  "Improving Local Decision Making with GIS Technology,"  Tom Moen and
Frank Krist, Graduate Students, MSU.

-  "Local Government Experience with Wetland Management, Case Studies,"
Eugene Jaworski, Dept. of Geography-Geology, Eastern Michigan Univ.

-  "Latest Technologies in MDOT Wetland Mitigation," Erica Staton, Wetland
Management Specialist, Michigan Dept. of Transportation.

-  "Wetland Protection in the Rouge River Watershed - A Method for the
Identification of Locally Important Wetlands," Donald Tilton, Bridget Fahey
and David Merkey, Tilton & Associates.

The event will take place in room 105, Kellogg Center from 9:00 AM to 4:00
PM, and is sponsored by the Michigan State Section of the American Water
Resources Association and by MSU's Agriculture and Natural Resources Week.

Registration (which includes lunch and all refreshment breaks) is $50.00.
($45.00 for members of AWRA).
