E-M:/ Food waste in disposal vs. in trash

Okay, I KNOW composting is really the only answer, but,
if you only had a choice between putting your food waste in the trash or
in the garbage disposal, which would be less bad for the environment.

Thoughts so far:

garbage disposal: the food waste goes to the WWTP and causes alot of
nutrients to be discharged into the waterbody, although, at least they
are natural nutrients and not toxics.

Landfill: a tremendous volume of garbage is food waste that doesn't have
to be there and will not compost/degrade very well in the landfill.

Hmmmm.

Also, maybe some advice on easy, urban composting opportunities would be
good.
