E-M:/ senate committee hearing on lead legislation

Enviro-Mich message from Dave Dempsey <davemec@voyager.net>

A lead abatement bill that will be introduced in the State Senate next week
is scheduled to be the subject of a hearing of the Senate Health Policy and
Senior Citizens Committee at 3 p.m. Tuesday, April 14, in Room 100 of the
Farnum Building. The House has considered but not acted on similar
legislation, H.B. 5561. The state must enact lead contractor licensing and
certification legislation by June 1 or risk being pre-empted by U.S. EPA in
lead abatement and cleanup activities.
