PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP - The national Trust for Public Land has the go-ahead to
collaborate with Pittsfield Township on land saving options.
Trustees of the rapidly growing township unanimously voted Tuesday to work
with the organization. The idea is to begin identifying development-prone
properties for permanent agricultural or open space use.

Muskegon County commissioners Tuesday approved a surprise, small-scale
resumption of the county's gypsy moth control program.

El Nino-influenced warm weather this winter contributed to grub problems
throughout the Lower Peninsula. The pest, the larval form of a beetle, usually
dies of cold during December, January and February. This season, temperatures
were well above normal.
