E-M:/ Advance notice of a special weekend...

Enviro-Mich message from KWinch5940@aol.com

early, advance registrations being taken now for :

                  OPENING THE BOOK OF NATURE
                          Sept. 25 - 27, 1998
Friends Lake Community, Chelsea, MI (at a rustic group
camp site)

...... a weekend exploration of God's presence in creation.

Frederick Krueger (former Director of the Christian Society of the Green
Cross) will be the facilitator for this weekend of camping and reflection on
the spiritual values and lessons to be learned from creation. This popular
program has been offered at several locations around the country, and has been
described as "life-changing" for some people.

The group size is limited to 20 people; participants should bring their own
food and camping equipment. The program will begin Friday after supper (this
first supper may be provided - participants will be informed closer to the
weekend) and go till Sunday about noon. The cost is on a sliding scale of
$45 - $245, depending on how much you feel you can afford (scholarships are
sometimes available). The fee covers a packet of preparatory materials,
instruction, and the use of the camping area.

The group's "exploration" will examine the historical basis for learning from
creation; use several different forms of group process; times of private
prayer / solitary reflection "out in the woods"; and reconvening of the group
at predetermined times for group sharing / discussions of insights learned.

Early Christians, the Saints, and the great reformers were eloquent about the
lessons of creation and its potential to provide deep spiritual instruction --
the "book of nature" was considered a primary source of wisdom, and a place to
learn deep truths about God .....and about our place, as humans, in the
natural world.

I hope some of you can join us for this special weekend. As noted above,
space is limited, so get your name on the advanced registration list early. I
am coordinating the sign-up for the weekend, so you may contact me if
