        The Ecology Center is a nonprofit environmental education and
citizen action organization which works for clean air, safe water, and
environmental justice in the Ann Arbor area and throughout southeast
Michigan.  Founded in 1970, the Ecology Center has approximately 3,500
members and supporters, 9 staff persons, and an 11-person Board of

Job Responsibilities
        The Fundraiser is responsible for membership development and event
planning.  Membership responsibilities entail: the recruitment of new
members, development of a major donor program, retention and development of
current and lapsed members, coordination of member services, up-keep of
membership records, acquisition of prospect lists, preparation of direct
mail, and coordination of outreach efforts. Event planning includes
organizing fundraising and member events, such as the annual Eco-ride and
raffle.  In addition, the position has some shared organizational
responsibilities and office duties.  Ecology Center staff are organized as
a unionized collective, and actively participate in organizational

        * demonstrated fundraising ability;
        * demonstrated ability to write persuasively;
        * ability to do detailed clerical and bookkeeping work;
        * experience in direct mail fundraising helpful;
        * experience in event organizing helpful;
        * interest in environmental issues;
        * excellent organizational skills;  and,
        * basic computer literacy.

        This position may be structured as a part-time or full-time
position, including some or all of the above-listed responsibilities.
Starting full-time salary is $24,000 per year with extensive benefits,
including medical, dental, vacation, disability, and retirement.  Hours are
