   Washtenaw County Circuit Judge Kurtis T. Wilder denied a motion Friday for
a preliminary injunction that would have allowed local Green Party of Michigan
candidates to get on the November ballot. The Green Party, represented by the
American Civil Liberties Union, made the injunction request in a recently
filed lawsuit against the city of Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County.  The Green
Party is known primarily for its environmental and populist platform.

The search in Linwood for clean water is being driven by a state order to
correct turbidity levels in the water coming from the town's treatment plant.

Roger I. Nelson remembers a simpler time when traveling the back roads to
northern Michigan meant beautiful scenery and little traffic. Yet, as Nelson
has discovered, his scenic trip is changing.  M-15 and M-24 - two main roads
on the area's east side - are booming; traffic, business and activity are
increasing. The growth has been spurred in part by increased commuting from
Genesee and Lapeer residents south to Oakland County. And road officials have
taken notice, planning millions of dollars in expansion projects to try to
keep up with the demand.

Fenton Twp. - Homeowners itching for a spot on a lake, even a small one with a
limited view, concern some township officials worried about overdevelopment.
Developers have six new neighborhoods in the works, and the largest - a
120-lot neighborhood on Tupper Lake - is successfully moving through a
rezoning process.
