Rep. Kirk Profit's subcommittee on improving the environmental sensitivity
of the tax code took testimony from half a dozen witnesses representing
environmental groups, municipalities, and industry yesterday, and
tentatively scheduled a hearing to consider specific legislation for 8:30
a.m. on September 16.  The witnesses offered suggestions on how to improve
the seven bill drafts now available, and Profit said he hoped to report
revised versions of some of the bills during the brief September session of
the Legislature.
