WASHTENAW COUNTY - A judge Wednesday issued an injunction against Pall-Gelman

WASHTENAW COUNTY - The county is attempting to recapture forgotten pieces of
land as a way of revitalizing urban cores and at the same time stemming the
runaway growth in outlying rural areas. County voters will be asked to approve
a 0.4-mill levy in November to preserve farms and open space and invest in
reuse of urban wasteland where all the infrastructure and municipal services
are already available. At the same time the Ann Arbor Area Chamber of Commerce
is spearheading a drive to reclaim urban sites so far presumed doomed due to
past contamination.

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP - Angry residents living near the Tuthill compost facility
want the township to send the business to the scrap heap, citing foul smell
and truck noise.

hurdle, residents are preparing for the long haul in their attempts to block

Linwood water has been subject to many claims: The state says it's sometimes
"turbid," some in Linwood says it's lower in chlorine than Bay City water, and
many residents complain that it's way too expensive.
But the only real differences between water from the Bay City plant and the
aging Linwood plant is that Linwood water is fluoride-free, but turbid - that
is, more cloudy with silt and organic matter. Those are among findings from
tests The Bay City Times had performed on water samples taken from the two
systems in August.
