Bringing Cleaner and Safer Water to Your Community...

>From Watersheds to Watertaps
A workshop overviewing the latest programs and strategies to protect our
drinking water sources and the public's health designed for water and land
conservationists, consumers, vulnerable populations, elected officials and
others.

Saturday, October 3, 1998
9:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.*
Mt. Clemens Community Center
300 Groesbeck Highway
Mt. Clemens, MI

Presented by Clean Water Fund

*A Lake St. Clair drinking water session for citizens will follow the
workshop from 3:30 -5:30 p.m.

Each year, an estimated one million Americans are sickened by drinking
their tap water. Over one third of U.S. waterways are not safe for fishing
and swimming.

The 1996 Safe Drinking Water Act provided new tools for drinking water
consumers, public health advocates and watershed activists to better protect
drinking water and the natural areas that supply drinking water to consumers
throughout the U.S.

We invite you to attend From Watersheds to Watertaps and find out about:

New right-to-know and public participation measures designed to build
support for drinking water and watershed protection efforts;

New federal pollution prevention funding for protecting drinking water sources;

Source water assessment and protection; and

Enforceable measures for watershed clean-up (impaired and threatened
waters/TMDLs).
