AU GRES - "Walking only" beach surprises back-lotters.  Stickiest issue is
recreational use of Lake Huron shoreline. 

Grand Blanc - A resident who says his property is being destroyed by water
runoff  from a nearby upscale new housing development is suing his neighbors,
the city and the Genesee County Drain Commission.

FLINT - Construction of homes in a new Flint subdivision might not start this
fall as originally hoped. University Park has been touted for bringing new
housing to a city that has seen little residential development in recent
years. City officials have committed to subsidize the subdivision by building
roads and extending utilities to home sites as an enticement to builders and
potential home buyers.

GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP - The embattled owners of the Tuthill Farm say they are
ready to fight to keep their composting facility, despite complaints from a
few neighbors that the operation is driving down property values.

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP - People upset over the removal of dozens of old growth
trees on a wooded Textile Road lot say it's an example of why the township
should pass a stricter woodland protection ordinance.

JACKSON - City officials consider regional water system.

KALAMAZOO COUNTY - National urban policy consultant David Rusk discusses with
local leaders whether county cans quare the "Great American dream" of a big
house in the country with a goal of saving its cities, farmland and open
space. Also discussed: Can the county, with its 24 separate units of
government, pull together to manage its growth and compete economically with
areas that have united themselves into marketing amalgamations such as Grand
Rapids and Battle Creek?

KALAMAZOO COUNTY - Local officials should help Western Michigan University
locate a research park in Kalamazoo County, according to urban policy

BRIGHTON - The Brighton Planning Commission voted Monday night to recommend
approval of a downscaled rezoning request by Brighton builder-developers Steve
Davis and Lorne Darnell for the Oak Ridge Meadows-Northridge development.

BAY  CITY - Designers and commissioners like the idea of building a hotel-
conference center on the Saginaw River in downtown Bay City, but that would
require a lengthy federal review process, with no guarantee of acceptance.

Grand Blanc - A tax abatement policy approved by the city could be the first
step in attaining a $3-million to $4-million industrial project.
