Genessee County _ Landfill operators say paper not plastic for yard waste

Cleaning up polluted sediments on the bottom of Muskegon and White lakes 
benefits more than just the environment - it could also provide an 
economic boost to those communities.

Burnside Twp. - Lapeer County's only landfill closed for business 
Wednesday, threatening higher trash-removal rates and funding for the 
county's recycling programs.

An avid fisherman and 10 volunteers hope to convince officials to 
enforce "no dumping" laws along the Grand River.

An amended order paving the way for the operation of a new asphalt plant 
in Blackman Township was approved Friday by a Jackson County judge.

Efforts to win a federal Empowerment Zone designation for Muskegon and 
Muskegon Heights call for $26.4 million of federal spending that would 
spur more than $64 million of total investment in the downtown and along 
the Muskegon Lake waterfront.
