BAY CITY - Abraham stumps for Prop C enviro-bonds.

WASHTENAW COUNTY - The county's land preservation proposal received both a
beating and a boost Wednesday night when leading spokespersons for each side
squared off in a pre-election debate.

JACKSON/HILLSDALE - An 8-year-old class action lawsuit over oil drilling in
Jackson and Hillsdale counties has been settled for $780,000.  Marathon Oil,
headquartered in Oklahoma City, Okla., will pay the money to 220 people who
leased portions of their rural land to the company for drilling and then
contended they were underpaid royalties.

KALAMAZOO - Robert F. Kennedy Jr. only briefly traded on the family name
before launching into a blistering 90-minute speech in defense of the
environment Wednesday evening at Western Michigan University. Kennedy is
currently the senior attorney for the National Resources Defense Council and
chief prosecuting attorney for Hudson Riverkeeper, a group of fishermen and
activists working to punish Hudson River polluters.

PITTSFIELD TOWNSHIP - Federal investigators are looking into allegations that
a Pittsfield Township hazardous waste processing firm defrauded the University
of Michigan and deliberately spilled hazardous material in Washtenaw County,
the FBI confirmed today.

WASHTENAW COUNTY - County and local officials conceded the Multi-Lakes
Sanitary Sewer System serving Dexter and Lyndon townships was overbuilt and
can't pay for itself now but asserted that it will accommodate future growth. 

FENTON TWP. - Stagnating lubricants used for metal work at Carpenter
Enterprises off U.S. 23 is the source of a sickening, moldy odor drifting
along Thompson Road, according to the state Department of Environmental

GENESEE COUNTY - If Flint Mayor Woodrow Stanley accepts a new water contract
from Detroit, Genesee County officials want to reopen talks on another legal
agreement: the county's contract to purchase water from Flint at a 35 percent
markup through at least 2013.

GRAND RAPIDS - Dozens of people attended a Kent County Road Commission forum
Wednesday to hear of plans to improve access at the airport and ease traffic

SAGINAW - The Riverfront Developoment Committee develops vision for vibrant,
safe, clean downtown riverfront on the Saginaw River.

BAY CITY - Plans are being formed for a landmark $22.1 million development in
downtown Bay City, and the Planning Commission wants in.
