EVENT: FIRST FRIDAY Speaker on the Environment

SPEAKER: Denise Tomlinson, Organization of Bat Conservation

SPONSOR: West Michigan Environmental Action Council

DATE:  Friday, November 6, 1998

PLACE: St. Marks Church
  134 N. Division
  Grand Rapids, MI

TIME:   Noon to 1:30 pm

COST:  Box Lunch $7.00 for members and $8.00 for non-     members   
  Free to those wishing to bring their own lunch

TOPIC:   "LIVE BATS - The World of Bats"  

Step into the world of bats and discover the tremendous species diversity
surrounding these mammals.  Topics include echolocation (using a bat
detector), hibernation, migration, food preferences, and mega and micro bats.
There will be an interactive question and answer  session where we discuss bat
conservation around the world.  A wide variety of bats will be shown including
one with a wingspan of over 4 foot!
