 GRAND RAPIDS - Negotiators for the city and its 12 water and sewer "customer
communities" say they have struck a deal that could lead to a more unified
approach to urban sprawl.
The pact is designed to set a pattern for the 12 suburban communities that
either buy Lake Michigan water from the city of Grand Rapids or use its Waste
Water Treatment facilities.

 BAY CITY - EPA may let city off hook.  The agency could cut wastewater plant
fine to $1,000 from $137,500.

U.S. Rep. Dave Camp, a Republican representing Shiawassee County, had the
second lowest score of any member of the Michigan congressional delegation on
a national environmental score card.

FLINT - On either side of DeLise Byrd's west Flint home are rock-covered
vacant lots, sometimes strewn with garbage.
A new urban gardening coalition would like to help Byrd and other area
residents who want to replace cans with chrysanthemums.

 Spring Lake school board members Monday said two of the 10 alternatives in a
draft report on how to address U.S. 31 traffic congestion are unacceptable.
