E-M:/ OhOH!!!...David Mastio!!

Enviro-Mich message from "Alex J. Sagady & Associates" <ajs@sagady.com>

The Detroit News Washington Bureau reporter David Mastio
is coming to Michigan for a meeting of the Air and Waste
Management Association on December 7 at the MSU
Kellogg Center.

Mastio is on a panel entitled "Environmental Justice: A
Candid Discussion" along with Bob Bosar from Select
Steel in Flint, Gary Hughes from MDEQ and a "Citizen
Advocate Representative"

For the uninitiated, David Mastio has been the Detroit
News reporter leading that newspaper's charge against
the U.S. EPA's policies on environmental justice.

Too bad Mastio wasn't more candid with Detroit News
readers when he published a totally bogus story on the
front page saying that U.S. EPA paid for the environmental
justice complaint in the Select Steel case to be filed by
the St. Francis Prayer Center in Flint. St. Francis
Prayer Center never received a dime in grant funds
from U.S. EPA as Mastio claimed in the front page piece and
as reinforced by the Detroit News editorial on the matter.

So far, neither Mastio nor the Detroit News have come clean
with an apology/retraction for the completely false, high visibility story
to Rev.
Phillip Schmitter and Sister Joanne Chiaverini of the
Prayer Center, who have been active in environmental
issues on the north side of Flint.
