E-M:/ League of Women Voters looks at Global Warming

Engler's op-ed last week in the Detroit News, decrying the Kyoto Climate
Change Treaty, has prompted many of us to examine the issue more
closely, specifically as it plays out in the debate between the Michigan
environmental community, the Congressional delegation, the auto
industry, utilities, and others. "Global Warming Forecast: Hot Air and
High Winds" is the cover story in the Dec./Jan. issue of the League of
Women Voters' National Voter Magazine. The article provides a basic, if
simplified, introduction to the science, the Kyoto protocol, and the
points of contention left to resolve.

The current issue of The National Voter is not yet posted on the LWV web
site, but should be soon. The address is http://www.lwv.org. Issues
should also be available from LWV, 1730 M Street, NW, Washington DC
20036; 202-429-1965; or email staff at megd@lwv.org. If anyone wants
the article immediately, I'd be happy to either mail or fax a photocopy.
