E-M:/ [Fwd: Re. Lake Superior Land Co. & Keweenaw Pen. >Peninsula >Peninsula]

Enviro-Mich message from Michael Boyce <birder@voyager.net>

I posted a note (actually forwarded an Enviro-Mich post) to the newly
formed Audubon Wetlands-Chat listserv asking people to help save the
wetlands in Michigan's
Keweenaw Peninsula threatened by the actions of the Lake Superior Land
Company. I
received the post below today, February 7th. - Can someone more
about this issue please respond - ASAP, directly to Valerie Scho Carey,
VSCarey@aol.com who sent the message below.

Thanks in advance

Dear Michael Boyce:
By the time I heard about the project the Lake Superior Land Co. has in
for the Keweenaw, it was too late to get letters to Richard J. Gutleber
of the
US Army Corps of Engineers, and the Michigan Department of Environmental
Quality by the Feb. 8 deadline (or so I understand to be the deadline
public comments). Are there email addresses to which comments may be
directed? Any suggestions? Also, do you have details concerning the
area to
be affected (e.g. wildlife habitat that would be harmed or destroyed ---
of wildlife affected, unusual/endangered or threatened plant or animal
species, water quality, erosion). Details would make it possible to
pointed comments about the project. Thank you for your attention and
