JOB POSITION ANNOUNCEMENT

The Department of Fisheries and Wildlife at Michigan State University
(MSU) invites applications for a 12-month, three-year temporary outreach
specialist position.  QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: 1) Masters of Science in
limnology, aquatic ecology, or a related science; 2) Ability to teach
and work with professional and lay audiences; 3) Effective oral and
written communication skills. QUALIFICATIONS DESIRED: 1) One to three
years of Extension and/or Extension related experience in lake and
stream ecology; aquatic plant control; or related science; 2) Experience
in leadership and/or organizational skills. DUTIES: 1) Development,
coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs and written
educational materials that will increase the public's understanding of
lake, stream and watershed management issues; 2) Interactions with the
scientific community, with professional and public audiences and
stakeholders interested in lake, stream, and watershed issues; 3)
Ability to serve as an information resource specialist on general
limnological and water quality issues; 4) Working closely with Michigan
Lake and Stream Associations and MSU Extension on education program
development and handling technical lake management questions.

APPLICATIONS:  Due March 31, 1999 or until a suitable candidate is
found. This position is jointly funded by the Department of Fisheries
and Wildlife, MSU Extension, and Michigan Lake and Stream Associations
and will begin on May 1, 1999.  Salary is competitive and commensurate
with education, experience and demonstrated ability.  Interested persons
