JOB ANNOUNCEMENT
Michigan Sierra Club Staff Opening, Lansing

The Mackinac Chapter of the Sierra Club has an immediate opening for
the full-time position of Member Involvement Director and Conservation
Organizer.  The Sierra Club is seeking a highly-motivated individual,
committed to environmental protection and experienced in grassroots
advocacy organizing to work out of its Lansing office.

The Sierra Club's Mackinac Chapter includes 17,000 members across
Michigan.  The professional and administrative staff work with a network
of Sierra Club leaders and activists from across the state.  The Sierra Club
is a national non-profit member-supported, public interest organization
that promotes conservation of the natural environment by influencing
public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal and electoral.
     
Job responsibilities for this position include: Planning, organizing and
implementing member activism and leader development programs for the
Michigan chapter.  In collaboration with senior staff, planning, organizing
and implementing education and mobilization efforts and events as part of
the Sierra Club's Environmental Public Education Campaign in Michigan. 
Overseeing member recruitment activities and coordinating
communication between the Michigan chapter, local groups and the
national Sierra Club.   

The successful candidate will have excellent written, verbal and
interpersonal communication skills; two to three years' experience
working with volunteers in the environmental movement, political
campaigns or similar organizations to successfully carry out grassroots
campaigns; a general knowledge of environmental issues affecting
Michigan; ability to work independently, cooperatively and effectively in
an action-oriented office; proficient computer skills; and an ability to
travel up to 50 percent of the time.
     
Salary range begins at $26,000 plus full benefits.  To apply please submit
