the first presentation will be monday 15 mar 99 at 4 p.m. in the moot court
room of the dcl building at msu . . . the presenter will be sheila jasanoff
(see information below) speaking on 'science and society' . . . much of her
work has focused on how society can control the effects of technology on the
environment

Monday March 15th
Science and Society
Sheila Jasanoff, School of Public Health and the John F. Kennedy School of
Government, Harvard University Professor of Science and Public Policy at the
John F. Kennedy School of Government and the School of Public Health at
Harvard University.  Previously, Jasnoff was Professor of Science Policy and
Law and the founding chair of the Department of Science and Technology
Studies at Cornell University.  Jasnoff's long-standing research interests
center on the interaction of law, science, and politics.  Among her many
publications is the book entitled Science at the Bar: Law, Science and
Technology in America (1995), which received the Don K. Price award for the
best book on science and politics of the American Political Science
Association, Section on Science, Technology, and Environmental Politics.
