FLINT Local scrap metal dealers say they've had to cut corners and layoff
workers as they're forced to sell their metal at low prices to compete with
foreign countries flooding the market with cheap goods.

Ann Arbor officials are considering a proposal from a company that wants to
build a cellular phone tower in Veterans Memorial Park. 

The Norton Shores Planning Commission on Tuesday postponed action on a request
by Nugent Sand Co. to build a new Winnetaska Drive, which would allow the
company to mine sand under the existing one.

St. Charles has doubled its investment in a proposed Saginaw County rail
The Village Council had pledged $5,000 toward construction of the linear park,
stretching nearly 10 miles from Lumberjack Park in St. Charles to Paine's
Junction in James Township. Last week, the council added another $5,000.

The City of Jackson and Blackman Township are a step closer to agreeing on a
deal to share income and expenses related to a 144-unit apartment complex
planned for Blake Road south of I-94. The proposed "Act 425 Agreement" was
approved by Blackman Township Monday and heads to the Jackson City Council
